Post Interview Letter

Thank you Letter 1

Dear
Prof. Priya
Prof. Mark
Prof. Adi
Prof. Myrna

Thank you very much for your time today to interview me for the post-doc position at New York Psychiatric Institute, Columbia University, New York, USA. I appreciate the opportunity to learn more about the post-doc project, to meet you and to hear about your research team, collaboration, and research sites in Cornell, Mt. Sinai, Mayo Clinic and Columbia/NYSPI. After our conversation, I am confident that my skills and experiences are a great match for this post-doc position.

As we discussed, I find research using big data is fascinating and an amazing opportunity for the future, particularly for psychiatry research. Identification of major depressive, anxiety and substance use disorders and related outcomes in electronic health record data, evaluating associations of polygenic risk scores, social factors, and other environmental conditions with these common psychiatric disorders, and assessing associations between polygenic risk scores and outcomes including treatment-resistant depression and health care use in patients with mood, anxiety, and substance use disorders will be the top priority during my post-doc work.

I enjoyed finding the interdisciplinary, international and multicultural nature of the researchers, which will help me to integrate easily in the New York Psychiatric Institute at Columbia University.

I am very enthusiastic about this opportunity to join your research team and I will work to the best of my ability. As I mentioned during the video conference,

  1. I am a hard worker, motivated and dedicated person. For my effort, I have received several recognition awards. Overall, I have an excellent track record.
  2. I am cable of managing and analyzing multidimensional multisite published and unpublished big data.
  3. I can work on several projects at the same time.
  4. I will write a grant (or generate ideas for grant proposal), want to be an independent researcher and professor eventually.
  5. I have plenty of experience in writing and publishing papers/science in English. In the last 5 years, I have published and co-authored in more than 40 papers (most published in high impact journal and, as first and last author). Last year, I have received a top publication award.
  6. If you have a course(s) or student(s), I can teach and supervise bachelor and master degree students. I have 6-year experience in teaching and supervising students.

In sum, this job is a best fit for me to expand my current knowledge and skills, and learn from a different group of talented researchers.

Best regards,
